Karen was born and raised in Connecticut.

 

Education:

  • Studied Food and Nutrition at Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY (now part of Fordham)

  • Completed a combined MS-Dietetic Internship Program at Boston University and Beth Israel Hospital

 

Career Highlights:

  • For the first 14 years of her career Karen worked at the Massachusetts General Hospital

    • first working with the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program

    • then as director of the cardiac rehab nutrition program

    • additionally, she was a guest lecturer, teaching nutrition at Harvard Medical School

  • 27 years as Senior Lecturer and the Dietetic Internship Director in the Nutrition Department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville

    • from 1994-2005 was the Sports Nutritionist for the Lady Vols and Vols contributing to National Championships

  • Owner of Tranquil Eating Associates

    • has been providing nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy for clients for over 40 years

 

Vision/Mission:

Karen’s passion is to support individuals in fueling their bodies for good health and performance. She works to meet clients where they are, and to help them incorporate healthy behavioral strategies into their lifestyle.

Personal:

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking, gardening, photographing the great outdoors, and spoiling her six cats.
